Manyoni Private Game Reserve

The safari experience at Rhino Sands revolves around two daily game drives. All drives occur within Manyoni Private Game Reserve, a 57,000 acre privately owned Big 5 game reserve. Game drives tend to last 2.5-3 hours and are guided by our team of expert game rangers on open safari vehicles. Rhino Sands guarantees a maximum of six guests per vehicle, ensuring comfortable space and prime game-viewing ability for each guest.

Early morningWhile exact timing depends on season, an early wakeup call is followed by coffee, tea, and treats by the fire.

Morning game driveDeparting as close to sunrise as possible, spend a few hours searching for the iconic African species that call Manyoni home.

Mid-morning breakfastUpon return from drive a large breakfast awaits. A continental tray followed by a cooked-to-order hot breakfast is served after the long morning’s adventures.

Time to relaxMany guests use the time between breakfast and lunch for a quick nap, to read a book or to lounge in their tent soaking up the natural beauty of the riverine forest.

LunchJoin us for a leisurely lunch at the main camp, enjoy two courses and a glass of something refreshing before heading out on the afternoon’s adventures.

Afternoon refreshUse the time between lunch and game drive for a quick splash in your pool and to prepare and pack for the afternoon’s drive.

Afternoon game driveDeparting a couple of hours before sunset, afternoon drives generally consist of two hours of driving in daylight and an hour of driving in dusk or darkness.

SundownersThe afternoon drive is broken up with one of the most beloved safari traditions. Step off the safari vehicle and enjoy a cocktail or cool drink and some snacks while the sun sets.

CampfireAnother cherished safari tradition is gathering around a campfire after drive. Guests get a chance to get to know one another and the Rhino Sands team as they share stories from their day on safari.

DinnerEvery night a gourmet three course dinner is served. Our chefs delight in getting to know our guests’ preferences individually and work to offer plentiful options for all guests, regardless of dietary requirements.

SleepWhile guests are welcome to relax around the campfire with us for as long as they wish, we find most guests retire early, eager for sleep with satisfied appetites, warm memories of the day and anticipation for the next morning’s early wakeup.
