Rhino Sands has partnered with a transfer company owned and operated by a businessman from our local community. Igula Tours has been providing transfers for Rhino Sands guests since we opened our doors in 2017. They offer professional and reliable service and competitive rates. Rhino Sands offers our guests the opportunity to book these transfers through us.
Self-drives in South Africa are possible for adventurous guests and Rhino Sands is straightforward to find, however we always recommend double checking our written driving directions with GPS navigation which can take you on some unlikely and unsuggested routes. The reserve road to the camp is unpaved. We suggest guests avoid bringing or renting vehicles with low clearance, however a 4×4 is not required. Please be aware that cars drive on the left-hand side of the road in South Africa. Rhino Sands strongly suggests that our guests refrain from travelling on freeways after dark for safety concerns. Access to Rhino Sands includes driving on sections of freeway with only two lanes, and drivers should be alert to the challenges of passing large trucks, aggressive drivers on the road, and people and livestock on the side of the road. Large and well-lit petrol stations along the route are good places to fill up with fuel, use the restroom and grab a drink or snack.

Please treat sat-nav directions which deviate from the printed directions below with caution as they might not indicate the most advisable route. Please also be aware of speed limits, many places along the N2 have a limit of 80 and 100 kms/hour.
We are approximately 300km from Durban.
When travelling north on the N2 from Durban, approximately 32 kms past the Hluhluwe turnoff, turn left onto the dirt road D464. The D464 is signposted for Manyoni Private Game Reserve East Gate.
When travelling south on the N2 from Pongola/Johannesburg, approximately 19 kms past the Mkuze turnoff, turn right onto the dirt road D464. The D464 is signposted for Manyoni Private Game Reserve East Gate.
On the D464 proceed to the Manyoni Private Game Reserve main gate where you will be asked to sign in with reserve security. Drive straight on the D464 for 2.4kms and turn left at the sign that says Rhino Sands. Drive a further 1.9kms on the windy dirt road to arrive at the camp. Turn left into the camp driveway at the sign marked Rhino Sands.
